Newcleus is a famous crossover band, oscillating between electro funk and hip-hop and born in the late 70′s in Brooklyn’s block parties. (biography)
“Space Is The Place” is the second LP, released in 1985. Not the most known but it is wicked too. Let’s jam on it!
Daniele Baldelli is one of the Euro DJ pioneers in disco who began his career in the end of the 60′s till nowadays. He used to mix disco but also afro funk, synth-pop, house music and even more.
Here are a few tracks that are more alike slow-down disco with tribal rhythms. It is a hard task only selecting the best tracks on this album, “Cosmic Sound” (2006), because I just love it as a whole, thanks to its diversity.
Daniele Baldelli – Cosmic Tune
Daniele Baldelli – Electrodub
Daniele Baldelli – Pluton

IMO the best track from The Best Disco In Town and what a tune! Check out the bassline.
Is it necessary to introduce you to Alden Tyrell ?
One of the best producers of the dutch electro scene working with such labels as Viewlexx and Clone since the end of 90′s and involved in many projects.
Space managed to do an obscure music full of mystery. They’re best known for the hit “Magic Fly”
(see the related post).
One of my favorites from the classic third LP “Just Blue” is this cosmic flight:
Space – Final Signal (1978)

I’ve patiently browsed almost all the tracks released by Jo Squillo in the 80s and the 90s, from her debuts with the Kandeggina gang to the pop collaborations with Sabrina: IMO no other track from hers has the tremendous appeal of this specific one.
Jo Squillo Eletrix – Avventurieri (7” Mix) (1983)
(“buccaneers” appears to be a rough translation of “avventurieri”, I wish I could understand Italian because I’m quite intrigued by the lyrics)
I-f – Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass (2001)

Roni Griffith – Desire (1981)
(Listen to the “Extended version”)
She was working with the magnificient Bobby Orlando. On a side she’s also been part of the band Kid Creole & The Coconuts.
A canadian duo formed by the songwriter/producer Allan Coelho and the singer Carlos Borges made a nice cover.
Rubies – I Feel Electric (2008)
The two californian ladys from the Rubies, an indie pop project, just released their first album. Nothing really exciting (for me) but still a sweet song yet. (more…)

A huge ‘classic’ from 1983, released on the same record label as every other Zito & Favilli‘s productions; it also implies that this track sounds way ahead of its time.
Casco – Cybernetic Love (Dub Version)
Casco – Cybernetic Love (Vocal Version)
a funny cheap video by 1,2,3 Party!
This is just a simple yet very groovy classic italo tune by Carlo Favilli & Stefano Zito… (more…)
Justice – Stress – album: † (Cross) – 2007
Video clip directed by Romain-Gavras (Kourtrajmé Prod°) that should be sooner or later removed by the censorship for its violent content so watch out now!

Here’s a sensual funky space tune with a groovy bassline by this english band formed in the early 70′s. (biography)
Dee D. Jackson – Automatic Lover (1977)
This is D.D.‘s second single and first excerpt from her first album “Cosmic Curve” released in 1978 on french label Carrere.
The english disco singer became universally famous thanks to this big hit. (biography on a fansite)
A few covers each in a different range of style:
Sylvia – Automatic Lover (1978)
Key Motion – Automatic Love (1993)
Jay Jay Johanson – Automatic Lover (Michal Mix) (2002)
And speaking about lovers… what about this:
Sylvia Love – Extraterrestrial Lover (1979)
