France 1981. In the picture, legendary 70′s/80′s adult film star Brigitte Lahaie poses in “L’Exécutrice” (1986), one of her non-porn roles. The film came out as “L’Esecutrice” in Italy, “Le Ejecutora” in Spain, “Miss Magnum” in Finland and “Sknoninglos Hämd” in Sweden.
This past saturday, thanks to a bunch of gorillas securing the entrance of some club (they’re also called bouncers sometimes), I wasn’t able to listen to this dream team playing their sets. Thank you The Social Club. It must have been great, I will never know.
I’ve heard it was really too crowded anyway…
If you’ve been there, tell me how it was like…
It’s been 10 years, already – the very first promo pressings were available in late april/early may 1998 IIRC – so let’s celebrate this very special birthday (a little bit in advance)
Lifelike‘s album is not yet in sight… 2007 happened to be a very busy year for him as an in-demand remixer, now that it’s a bit more quiet let’s hope he’s on it.
Lifelike – High On 2007 (2007)
This is a slightly edited version of the incredible Adventure mini-EP B side.
Bliss is a fairly enjoyable piece of lazy Disco while Defender is more like a ’sub-Robot Rock‘ with a housey beat… There’s a track for everyone’s taste: I like the first one.
Defender – Bliss (2005)
Yet another off topic ticket but I really couldn’t resist. Though I’m no fan of Martin Solveig, this remix is THE sh%t!
Anthemic French House with maximum distortion. I love those f%cking beets!
Thanks to Kidz By Colette for sharing this exclusive track. Soon to be released on the next Solveig’s album.
Seriously, he is one of the very few to have brought out a perfect blend of synthpop, french house and ‘distortion-knob’ electro; and yes: Knightlife is as good as it gets.
He is also quite new on the scene and surely someone to eagerly watch out for in the future. I discovered his work out of sheer luck and now I must admit I’m totally hooked on his sound.
Knightlife – All Systems (2007)
Knightlife – Ambobop (2007)
|One of the most incredible smash hits from the über brilliant Disco-act Kano (no, not that Grime poser the one and only Kano), namely Another Life, and released in 1983. Some mere 20 years afterwards, the house tunes that sample it are even as outstanding as the original version. True dancefloor killers.|
“Another life another lover, where in the world do lonely dreams ever go?” So incredibly dazzling and catchy that it’s impossible to get it out of your head.
Two different portions of the original song sampled or re-created, two different artists and styles, two insane House reduxes.
Junior Jack – Life (2007)

|Another artist from the informal Valerie crew I’ve recently stumbled upon, Maethelvin (whatever how it’s pronounced) has an interesting sound.|
The analogy with The Outrunners‘ sound (recently reviewed) is quite appropriate but there’s something else and I can’t define it. One thing for sure, it sounds good.
Maethelvin – Plan B (2007)
The Outrunners, aka Pierre De La Touche & Stephen Falken, are members of a collective called Valerie. Recently signed on Lemon & Lime Records, their new track really delivers in both nostalgic feelings and disco raw power.
Here’s another of his best track to date, released the same year. It’s epic, thrilling, and disco.
Lifelike’s first album should be in the making right now, don’t miss Golden Boy (working title?) when it’s out
