The Garnets – Chopin-Chopin (1979)

San Ku Kaï

I long hesitated whether I should post it, because of its obvious kitsch content, but to hell with it, it will just become another ticket with a tasty ‘wtf?’ tag.

ecskk61768161681-5177981879 San Ku Kaï (aka 宇宙からのメッセージ or Message from Space) was a very low-budget sci-fi Japanese movie and television series from 1978.

Eric Charden – San Ku Kaï – Main Theme (1980)

This is the French version of the theme, the Japanese one is really forgettable.

Superman Supergalattico

mmsg686818148148145-8681681681-98811

An (ex-?) pornstar singing and praising the super powers of a super-galactic superman – or something like that. You get the pitch. IMO the vocoder work is quite nice though.

Love System

This is what happens when I’m in that kind of mood: I start posting tickets about mad choreographies, virtuoso keyboard playing, timeless hair cuts, and trendy men’s suits. You’re lucky, the video below meets all those criteria.

The Twins – Love System (1984)

(All things considered I think I wasn’t that vicious, otherwise I would have posted that instead. But I didn’t.)

Space Invaders

fssi6517681173683147668425-45

The blips and blops in both tunes are real sound samples from this antique video game no youngster could possibly have played for genuine, but that everybody has heard being spoken of at least once.

The first version is Japanese while the other one is from Australia (thank you jerry for the info).

Black Sado

cicciolina

cicciolina – black sado

Lick this track forever, dog! A  perfect (?) mood setter for your next dungeon event.  Ilona “Cicciolina” Staller was a member of the Italian parliament, the wife of artist Jeff Koons, a national icon and the star of immortal epics like “Orgia Atomica”.  Her hilariously bad 1979 disco lp got realesed in several countries but  this mid 80’s affair, used by the Radical Party for political promotion, was injustly doomed to obscurity. 40 merciless lashes for all who ignored “Black Sado”!

Trying It On

651145143514146411325135.jpg The winning Italo Disco recipe:

  1. Stick with the cheapest beatbox you can find,
  2. Use a falsetto voice that sounds like a bad joke,
  3. Focus all your efforts on the melody to make it sweet and catchy.

Serve it fresh (or not) and have fun.

Richie – Trying It On (1983)

It seems to have been pressed in ultra-low quantities. This recording comes from a recent white label vinyl with almost no info on it. I don’t know who is this Richie but he is good.

EDIT: the credits were wrong and are now fixed, thanks Scarface.

Dracula Goes To Disco

18171817357.jpg

Following Kundalini’s footsteps I crawled deep down into my crypt and found those “tunes” – ranging from quite good or funny (if you’re a vampire yourself or in a good mood maybe) to plain horrific bad taste:

Empire / Methusalem – Ooh Dracula (1980)
Piramis – Dracula (1977)
Gerry Bribosia – Dracula Disco (1977)
The Jimmy Castor Bunch – Dracula Pt. I (1975)

Spooks In Space

Aural Exciters – Spooks In Space (Version 1)

Just a spooky tune for spooky people like me. I love the little melody with the drums.

Aural Exciters are produced by Bob Blank.
Spooks In Space
LP released in 1979 for ZE Records.

Tunnel Music

Zongamin – Tunnel Music (2000)

Zongamin is an unclassable UK-based artist.  His 1st album was co-produced by Midnight Mike.

This song is an irresistible classic for me: what seems to be a wicked accordion sample, funky guitar riff, dark cello and dancing drums.

Danny Boy And The Serious Party Gods – Castro Boy

One of the weirdest and funnyest tunes I love!
A fabulous story “sung” by Danny Williams. xD

Synthetic Man

electronic-love.jpg

This is some dirty Punk-infused Electro sh*t… and (surprise) it’s from the early 70s actually!

It was obviously some kind of a joke at that time but retrospectively it sounds as if the Electroclash pseudo-genre was invented by this man. Well… by these two men: Jean-Michel Jarre was fiddling with the knobs of his analog gear on this track.

Samuel Hobo – Synthetic Man (1972)

They surely must have stopped drinking soon after but this “song” was a happy accident.

The Sparrow

567131-6809-cp.jpg The B side of the indefinable Crème De La Crème, this piece of music is unsurprisingly as bizarre as the first one. I still don’t know if I love it or hate it. One thing for sure: Waylon leaves no one indifferent.

I’m just saddened he didn’t produce anything else in the same vein.

Two words: beyond strangeness.

Crème De La Crème

kerry-chantilly.jpg

Produced by one half of Dance Reaction, this tune is so weird it’s intriguing.

Minimalist production and ridiculous voice: la crème de la crème? Maybe 😀
