Burundi Black, The Original

Burundi Stephenson Black – Burundi Black (1975)

Don’t be fooled by the later remix which is completely useless. Here’s the real deal.

Afro-Disiac

Uele Kalabulu Et Sa Tribu – Afro-Disiac

Witness testimony was given by a person qualified by actual experience. “As if possessed, I stopped the car and made all the men have sex with me several times”. We have heard speculation from reliable expert sources that the case is linked to rituals.

African Echoes

Ferrante & Teicher – African Echoes

A track that demands you take sides in the tropical garden of good and evil.

Baaki Pyar Ki

Asha Bhoshle – Baaki Pyar Ki

In any time slot, Asha can unleash in music more traumas, crazy desires and wholesale destruction than anyone else. Check the synths at c. 60 secs in.

Africa

Liverpool – Django

Liverpool – Samba Nova

Afrikanders – Tamba

The 1975 album with one of the best-ever sleeves reveals hidden agendas. The lp also got the fierce previously posted Eso Es El Amor by Combo’s Club.

Chaquito

Chaquito – The Good The Bad And The Ugly

Maybe not the best version but certainly the most insane.

Carmen

Gramophone Revival – Disco Carmen

Zimbo Trio – Lago Dos Cisnes

The classic of the month. Disco Carmen has already been published in a mix but that was ages ago so we must bring it back for further inspection.

Cut numero two is a strange but complelling version of Swan Lake.

Allô à l’OVNI

Ringo – Allô à L’OVNI (1979)

Just for fun, so don’t throw stones at me.

The lyrics are a perfect example of non-sense techno mumbo-jumbo, what would you expect from Ringo anyway.

RFSU

Rfsu Singers And Säwes – RFSU

Definitely one for the wtf?-category and we must post those too. This was released in Sweden in 1978 by their well-meaning national association of public health & sexual education.

Tanzbär

Thomas Natchinski – Tanzbär

Vorworts minimalistische Tendenzen in den eher zur Minimal Art gewandten Disziplinen wie Architektur, Design und Fotografie Erwähnung, aber auch Musik und Tanz.

Modern & Dynamo

Turku beats

This summer’s do-or-die events of the Overfitting Kind are getting closer. The first date is Saturday July the 21th. I’ll be doing the Turku Modern fest (on the coast of Finland that is) and spinning after Loud E at Donna. The same night Anssi kicks off at Dynamo a few blocks away around midnight and I’ll be playing there that night as well. Next on the agenda: Camp Cosmic in Sweden.

When The Going Is Smooth & Good

William Onyeabor – When The Going Is Smooth & Good (1984?)

As cheap as it comes: a beatbox, one arpeggiator, and a microphone. Repressed in 2011.

From Nigeria, with love.

More Chocolate

MML-Chocolate

Copies of this 1979 sleazebomb from Japan seem to be extremely hard to get. For this reason the whole track must be presented intact here now, as a contribution to society.

Oskar Panizza & other grooves

Oskar Panizza & other grooves

Grabbed my (original!:-)) copy of the Michael Bundt album Just Arrived Cosmic Kid from 1977 and started to think what would go well with the strange three-part The Brain Of Oskar Panizza, with it’s two beat-less pauses, odd noises and applause effects. Perhaps some pulse stuff from the former DDR? Then again, Anssi and Carlo had given me a few tunes that might sound interesting in this context as well. But surely not The Love Unlimited Orchestra? Had to try that, too. – Not really a mix, more like a seque of sounds.

Magnifique !

Charisma – Magnifique (1979)

One of the cosmicest sci-fi disco pieces unheard on this blog. I can’t believe it !

For those who don’t know yet little advice: just let yourself  high ! An Anthony Monn‘s production just like O.R.S. (Orlando Riva Sound) or Amanda Lear amongst others.

Richard Österreicher

Richard Österreicher Und Sein Orchester – Rosen Aus Dem Suden

An Der Schönen Blauen Donau

In 1976, an especially insane phenomenon happened on dancefloors around the globe: couples suddenly started to do a swirling waltz like it was 1776. This was thanks to The Blue Danube Hustle by The Rice And Beans Orchestra, a fast zipping disco version of a waltz biggie by Johann Strauss. Djs should have been programming the Richard Österreicher seven as well for more of the same, and better made in fact.

Vola Via

flying70s

An obscure Celso Valli arranged track from 1979.
This is the first, and not the only one, Carlo Cori record.
Son of Ruggero Cori, of the Quartetto Marino Marini, for the rest, I’ll leave you to this excerpt from the bio note *he* writes on *himself* on *his own* website:
“Sensual voice, on the road rocker, Rolex collector, loves Porsche cars, on a mission to give love to women…to him, life is “Spaghetti Sex & Rock’n’roll”…and for this he’s grudged by many…..what a character!!!”.

As for Patrizia, her surname is Fanfani, niece of one of the founders of the political party Democrazia Cristiana, Amintore Fanfani, and one of the most powerful politicians of the period.

Surely not the biggest disco bomb around, but I’m a sucker for the hilarious lyrics and the out of tune singing.
And, hey, never forget disco in Italy was massively influenced by the tradition of the canzonetta/canzone popolare.
