Santo

Santo – Chief’s Death

Santo – Snake

I’ve been playing the Snake track from ´82 for quite some time and wondered who this Santo guy is. Is he American? The sound is not quite American but the record is. It wasn’t before i got the Chiefs Dead on the Italian Cigogna label I (think) I solved the puzzle. He’s Italian-American and was the same guy who made the very famous sleepwalk track with his partner Johnny. Anyway he knows how to work that Hawaiian guitar sound and did an excellent job with these two disco tracks. The Chief’s Death track is from the ’79 Apocalypse Now movie.

Expo – Alimatha

Even though Walkie Talkie is a pretty fine tune, i would flip the record for this one in the heat of the night. The energy this track drives can make any floor explode! Germany ’77.

Surf Fascination

Image (40)

Riding on a new wave of disco sound, Christian Bruhn delivered this smokin’ surf-themed tune for HB Tobacco back in 1982, when smoking was still considered cool. Both sides of the 12″ are basically rearrangements of the same theme, but i personally prefer to play part 1. You can almost get this one for free on discogs, so why not jut go ahead and put it in the basket along with the other stuff you’re ordering.

Amorada

Guitar Twins – Amorada

Danish take on the Amorada classic by the Guitar Twins.
It can’t come as a surprise to any  that i’m a sucker for the shadows surf likes. Bending guitars and fast finger plays makes me smile, laugh and dance. This one i heard for the first time on camp cosmic, being played by another overfitting contributor Vomatron and i remember dancing like a maniac on the swedish mountain top. I vote for more surf guitars on the contemporary clubbing scene!

Passaporto Per La Follia

This track rocks my world.

Nadia Cassini – Passaporto Per La Follia

Sorry, just a YouTube link this time, I’m still actively looking for a second hand copy of the record.

Thanks to Spaziale (Scott Hesselink) for kindly unveiling the mystery – and Discotrooper for the MP3.
