You have the such eyes

Not entirely disco, just a good, noble song from soviet film “Sandu Follows the Sun” (1963). Voice by Maya Kristalinskaya.

Don’t miss a scene in interior of stylish soviet cafe with natural disco-ball (!).

Do It To Me

Riz Ortolani – Do It To Me

La Settima Donna

The first sound clip is from Ruggero Deodato’s infamous La Casa Sperduta Nel Parco / The House At The Edge Of The Park from 1980. Sleazebags David Hess and Gianni Lombardo Radice invade a luxurious villa inhabited by decadent partygoers. They grab bottles of JB whisky and put on a record to dance to before starting to terrorize everyone with straight razors.

The 2nd clip is from Franco Prosperi’s equally nasty and equally entertaining La Settima Donna / The Last House On The Beach from 1978. Sleazebag Ray Lovelock and his two pals invade a luxurious villa. In this one a nun played by Florinda Bolkan is rehearsing a Shakespeare play with five nubile teenagers. The thugs force the girls to watch a nude disco dance scene from future cult film L’Occhio Dietro la Parete / The Eye Behind The Wall (1977) on television, and then start to terrorize everybody. The soundtrack is by Roberto Pregadio who also scored SS Lager 5: L’Inferno Delle Donne / SS Experiment Love Camp and Jess Franco’s Mondo Cannibale.

Bullet

–What’s this garbage? Sounds like a chipmunk with diarrhea.
–l like that.
–What are you doing? Cost me $10.95 plus tax.
–You call that music? This is music.

This way I fell in love with “Right Said Fred” Barry White.

Notteke mix

Jussi Kantonen – Notteke Mix

Got quite a few comments focusing on the Bill Butler track Notteke 79 Movin’. So, here’s a mix built around it. I have no idea what the title means apart from the fact that it’s something Japanese. Could it be a Notteke has to do with Sukebans, vicious girl gang members? Think Kaji Meiko, Sugimoto Miki and Ike Reiko escaping from a convent school – where girls get hoisted over the altar like they do in the 70’s exploitation classic School Of The Holy Beast – and going on a rampage of cigarette smoking, wine drinking, motorcycle racing, wild dancing in psychedelic discothéques, plus kicking the shit out of gangsters!

Ennio Morricone – Seduction And Magic
Juan Carlos Calderon: Dies Irae
Saga: Compromise
Gene Farrow: Can You Keep It Up All Night
Slim Pezin & Pierre-Alain Dahan: Kuzi-Kuza
Bill Butler: Notteke 79 Moving
Arp Life: Motor-rock
H.B.P Mix: Light My Fire
J.C. Riffaud: Emotion Life And Happiness
I Romans: Squadra Speciale
Groupo C: Culto De Amor
Katunga: El Baile Del Grillo
Analisi 911: Disco Magic
Charlyne: So Sweet
Leroy Holmes: Emotions

Dirty Harry

Dirty Harry

Off a compliation, with no credits given apart from “written by Lalo Schifrin”. Judging by the icy chorus bit this version seems to be built from the Scorpio theme of the film, with added percussion. I wish my town was sleazier but this still sounds perfect in the car by night. Works on a dance floor too, of course.

Dance To The Samba

Football – Dance To The Samba (1981)

Gerhard Heinz (the composer) scored a great amount of gore-soft-porn-exploitation flicks back in the 70s and 80s, and the Discogs entries are still very sparse. Another track from the man, much, much better this time.
