Shining Down

micresound picB.S.B Micresound – Shining Down

Perfectly timed subtle glances or shamelessly intense stare? Vedette Records classic is for the latter situation.

?!

0742c051081180a2e800baf0598c0245Alexandre Gradski – ?!

Greetings from the amazing city of Tartu, Estonia! Looking for some action? It’s obvious to start from Rüütli for food and drinks. You want something else? Talk to the friendly locals to find the underground. They’ll guide you towards Lai. First you might find irresistibly delicious crêpes at Päris Pariis, but it was action you wanted? Check Zavood to make new friends and then it’s time to go down the Lai. There’s suspicious looking alley after Uus Teater. Follow the light into the darkness and you’ll find the legendary Genialistide Klubi. To my eyes and ears GenKlubi seemed custom made for our kind of disco sound with the right amount of patina, psychedelic projections and most important – the right people. There wasn’t disco dj’s last weekend, but I bet someone has played Alexandre Gradski’s amazing ?! (USSR, 1981) there. After you’ve danced yourself to the other dimension it’s time to check the mysterious cathedrals with those friendly locals. Repeat next weekend.

Crazy Spider

Gum Bisquit – Crazy Spider

This is how psych should sound. If it was injectable, i believe it would be the strongest and most addictive drug on the market. Watch out for this spider, it’s lethal! Italy ’74

I am the Walrus

walrus

John Tartaglia – I Am The Walrus

1969. A Beatles tune gets receptive with light forms of loungey sonorities, resulting in an interesting protodisco hybrid. Later on John Tartaglia went on to make actual full throttle disco, too.

I Am Afraid Of Losing You

fitRamasandiran Somusundaram – I Am Afraid Of Losing You

CrossFit is so 2008. The hottest exercise routine for this summer is the OverFit Funky Dance available at the coolest clubs. If you’re feeling funky, but the dj just can’t get you movin’, it’s perfectly alright to ask politely, could you please play something from the Ramasandiran Somusundaram long play and you will live happily ever after.

Nirvana

2998709786987697The Biddu Orchestra – Nirvana

Recent studies in experimental psychology indicate that exposing your aural senses to Biddu’s Nirvana can help you to slow your brain waves to reach the Theta state. Those who have slowed the record about 4% on their turntables have reached the desired state of mind much sooner than those listening at the original speed.

Lucifer

luciferCricha – Lucifer

Cricha – Lucifer (Instrumental)

Utterly questionable sleeve art usually raises expectations to the highest level. Drop the needle and your ears will be fulfilled with hard hitting drums, wicked synth bleeps, irresistible guitar riff and most likely lyrics to match (my Belgium is not good enough to understand the deeper meanings). Clips are pitched down a bit and you definitely need two copies to make it last long enough.

Night Of The Black Mamba

29998989089Ozo – Night Of The Black Mamba

Of course the electronic disco mix from the In Disco Town album (1980) is the most lethal version, but the unique mixture of chants and violins on this 7″ version make it my favorite cut (UK, 1977). And yes, I do envy those who own the lp…
