As Loose As The Eurostoxx

An old DJ set I’ve dug up from a dusty hard drive, most likely recorded in late 2008 (hence this curious name.) I don’t recall the set being aired on the webradio, nor mixing it, but I’m defo proud of it upon listening to it now.

Big fat warning: if you can’t stand unlikely mashups, bits of eurodance and chiptunes here and there, loads of italo disco covers with huge sawtooth waves, please don’t listen to it. This post does really deserve its ‘wtf?’ tag.

Pink Project

Mike Oldfield has his Italian Disco medleys (see this post and that one), but so has Pink Floyd.

It first happened when a bunch of DJs (namely some session musicians from the band Kano) realised that two club hits of the moment, namely Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall and The Alan Parsons Project‘s Mammagamma, could be seamlessly mixed within their DJ set because they share almost the same tempo and key… the rest is the story of a front runner studio project specialised in producing Disco mashups (sort of, some are really medleys, others are true mashups) during the 80s.

Pink Project – Disco Project (1982) (see the video)

(combines The Alan Parsons Project – Mammagamma, The Alan Parsons Project – Sirius, and Pink Floyd – Another Brick In The Wall (Part III))

It is worth noting that everything has been re-played or re-sung because of copyright issues.

Tracey In My Room

Much hyped when released as a bootleg in 2000, this track was actually done by Ben Watt from the Everything But The Girl fame but under cover. It then went legit soon after and even published as a plain EBTG’s remix. I still love that song from the first time I heard it.

It comprises the acappella from Everything But The Girl – Wrong and the instrumental part of Sandy Rivera – Come Into My Room (Take It Back Mix) – a Soul Vision remix, hence the name of the bootleg.
