San Ku Kaï

I long hesitated whether I should post it, because of its obvious kitsch content, but to hell with it, it will just become another ticket with a tasty ‘wtf?’ tag.

ecskk61768161681-5177981879 San Ku Kaï (aka 宇宙からのメッセージ or Message from Space) was a very low-budget sci-fi Japanese movie and television series from 1978.

Eric Charden – San Ku Kaï – Main Theme (1980)

This is the French version of the theme, the Japanese one is really forgettable.

イエロー・マジック・オーケストラ

A long time ago I promised a ticket about Yellow Magic Orchestra. Tough job. Really. I did only select 4 tracks; maybe they’re their most Electronic-inspired and well-known tracks. I don’t know.

Yellow Magic Orchestra – La Femme Chinoise (1979)
Yellow Magic Orchestra – Rydeen (1982)
Yellow Magic Orchestra – Technopolis (1979)
Yellow Magic Orchestra – Kai-Kou (1983)

Philharmony

2085845709_1177ee1c22.jpg

Philarmony is a great experimental LP, full of pulsating Ambient keyboard hooks and with a very welcome exotic touch for every westerner. It’s been released in 1982 by the head man behind the incredible Yellow Magic Orchestra, but as a solo project from end to end.

The sample in preview is really mesmerizing and sounds quite surprisingly ‘modern’ for its age.

Haruomi Hosono – Platonic

More on YMO in a forthcoming ticket, soon.

Nami Shimada

nami-shimada.jpg

Nami Shimada was (she retired from singing in 1990) a J-Pop artist and although I’m not fond of that genre, a few tracks she did, like Sun Shower released in 1989, are really more Garage or House than Pop. And they are good.

Nami Shimada – Sun Shower (H-Track Edit) (2006)

Nami Shimada – Sun Shower

On a side note, Nami Shimada now appears to be DJing in Japan.
