Capisco

Mina – Capisco

In the beginning, I love Mina because Pino Presti (LOVE!) wrote many songs to her. As I kept collecting Mina’s records, I came to know that Mina has many good Disco songs. “Capisco” is included in her LP “Kyrie” and EP “Buonanotte, Buonanotte”. Mina is popular even in Japan. But her late 70s and 80s works is not more popular than her 60s works. “Capisco” is written by Massimiliano Pani, who is a son of Mina and film actor Corrado Pani. I am addicted to this sticky beat.

Eastern Doping

Way back in kindergarden, we were painting Misha, the mascot of ’80 Moscow Olympic Summer Games. I was allowed to finish mine at home, resulting in next days total disbelief of my nurse in my deepest affirmation I was helped by nobody. Nothing changed over the years, still the misjudged mastermind (or slick cheater?). Here is Italy’s homage to our furry friend.

Make Up Jour Self

Orchestra Ezio Landini ‎– Make Up Jour Self

Yes, that’s how it’s spelled on the cover of this little italian piece of sunshine. They did try to fix the mistake though on the label and almost got it right with “Make up your self”. Released on the small Edizione Discografica Borgatti label

Love will come

Ricchi e Poveri – Love will come

I guess Ricchi e Poveri is among the very famous italian pop bands, but my only relation to them has been the Jungle Beat track from their 1980 Album. This one is 4 years earlier. A great mixture of hippie vibes and boogie grooves. This is probably best served at some small outdoor festival in the summertime, but hey; play it in a dark club in the winter and I promise you’ll get me on the floor.

Santamaria De Portugal

Portugal

Albatros ‎– Santamaria De Portugal

Nice tune from the Italian Albatros guys. Very cool arpeggio driven synths floating in between the drums, chants and horns. Maybe not as good as the stop stop violence that came out a year before this, but i definitely think it belongs in the archive

Il Guardiano Del Faro ‎– Oasis

It’s not cool to smoke, but when travelling through Sahara i would say go ahead. I would even go that far and suggest adding it up with some moroccan hashish. The ’78 tune is by the Italian producer Federico Monti Arduini and would fit very well as the score for your dessert high

Armando Trovaioli – L’Arcidiavolo

It was sounds like this that inspired designers to create striking fashions, display homes, boutiques and night clubs during the late 60s.

Life Is Real Only Here

Life Is Real Only Here

Should you have a soft spot for pulse disco – and by your choice of reading & listening material we take our chances – the works of Wolfgang Bock and Andre Ceccarelli should prove to be interesting as both provide delicate yet authoritative soundscape designs. The opening track Cycles by Bock and the following Life Is Real Only Here by Ceccarelli are extremely sophisticated explorations of space, texture and structure, set to a gently throbbing and definitely danceable beat. I also added a couple of other relating cuts of equally peaceful/agitated palette and subject matter.

The Lover Gang Minimix

As usual, it’s wild, strange, and full of exotic curiosities. This time it even features South Koreans singing a Russian lullaby, and, apparently, a song about shish kebabs and how good they are.

Various Artists – The Lover Gang Minimix

A kind of follow-up to the Die Unersättlichen mix.

Thanks go out to Discotruper, Italocarlito, Mike Burns, and Dimitri.

Modern & Dynamo

Turku beats

This summer’s do-or-die events of the Overfitting Kind are getting closer. The first date is Saturday July the 21th. I’ll be doing the Turku Modern fest (on the coast of Finland that is) and spinning after Loud E at Donna. The same night Anssi kicks off at Dynamo a few blocks away around midnight and I’ll be playing there that night as well. Next on the agenda: Camp Cosmic in Sweden.

You can call me Mister Ritmo

As we say in Russia: the lad has said – the lad has done. It was not so easy as I thought in the beginning…

So, at first it was like that. Now, when Randi doesn’t sing, but only ecstatically shouts, mock disco-rock schlager transmuted into experience of disco-climax (at least, as I hear it).

Thank Italocarlito for support. Jussi, your lossless copy is awaiting for you, as you wished.

Passaporto Per La Follia

This track rocks my world.

Nadia Cassini – Passaporto Per La Follia

Sorry, just a YouTube link this time, I’m still actively looking for a second hand copy of the record.

Thanks to Spaziale (Scott Hesselink) for kindly unveiling the mystery – and Discotrooper for the MP3.
