Dilemma

Moderne – Dilemma (1981)

Not everything ending with “wave” as a musical genre has to be desperate and gloomy. It’s just a tad melancholic and chilly here, as expected.

Aicha-cha-cha

aicha

A late 70s production by one half of Universal Energy/Le Baron (the French Le Baron) and one third of the Arpadys/Voyage crew, for a then notorious 60s singer in France.

Be Quite

Yan Tregger – Be Quite

Fire

Panama – Fire

I am the god of hellfire and i bring you … the french producer Alain Lacour and his project Panama. Their cover of Arthur Brown’s Fire is an excellent disco tune with a groovy beat, low pitched male vocals and a bassline that goes straight in the hips. This tune is for immediate dancing…

Hahmindahah

Danyel Gerald – Hahmindahah

Most people concentrate on the moody Le Vieux De la Montagne on the Rien Qu’une Vie album, unjustly ignoring this bouncy tune.

Di-Gue-Ding-Ding

Michel Legrand – Di-Gue-Ding-Ding

A discothéque number for wild go-go dancing. You can do it in clubs in special go-go gages hanging from ceiling, or on any floor anywhere. The term go-go originated from the French expression á gogo – meaning to let go – and was first used in Japan during the sixties. The moves are influenced by great dances like the Watusi, the Frug and the Mashed Potato but all you need to do is swing your arm above your head with crazy carefree abandon for two beats of the music, while the other arm is thrust downwards. Repeat the action with the other arm, the other arm goes up, the other goes down, see the girls in the poster above. Guys can also go-go dance, everyone can do it. Use your arms, shake your head in time to the music and take little syncopated jumps in place. For inspiration, check the opening montage of the film Faster Pussycat Kill Kill!

Allô à l’OVNI

Ringo – Allô à L’OVNI (1979)

Just for fun, so don’t throw stones at me.

The lyrics are a perfect example of non-sense techno mumbo-jumbo, what would you expect from Ringo anyway.

The Lover Gang Minimix

As usual, it’s wild, strange, and full of exotic curiosities. This time it even features South Koreans singing a Russian lullaby, and, apparently, a song about shish kebabs and how good they are.

Various Artists – The Lover Gang Minimix

A kind of follow-up to the Die Unersättlichen mix.

Thanks go out to Discotruper, Italocarlito, Mike Burns, and Dimitri.
