As Loose As The Eurostoxx

vaalate-81498367684736847681768

An old DJ set I’ve dug up from a dusty hard drive, most likely recorded in late 2008 (hence this curious name.) I don’t recall the set being aired on the webradio, nor mixing it, but I’m defo proud of it upon listening to it now.

Big fat warning: if you can’t stand unlikely mashups, bits of eurodance and chiptunes here and there, loads of italo disco covers with huge sawtooth waves, please don’t listen to it. This post does really deserve its ‘wtf?’ tag.

Hot Blood‘s classic was released in 1975 and later on the “Disco Dracula” or “Dracula And Co” LPs.

Here’s a longer remix from 1984 by Julius T & Hens Z:

Corona?

corona.jpg

On the left, Giovanna Bersola, the actual singer of This Is The Rhythm Of The Night and on the right, Sandra Chambers, the voice behind Baby Baby and Try Me Out.

Did you know that This Is The Rhythm Of The Night by Corona was actually a cover version? I didn’t.

Here we have THE obvious hit:
Corona – The Rhythm Of The Night (1993)

Now just replace the main lyrics “This is the rhythm of the night” with “Save me save me” and listen to:

Say When! – Save Me (1987)
Alright… the “cover” version has been extensively rewritten (if not from scratch) and only part of the original lyrics have been finally kept.
Anyway, thanks to Vanity6 for the info.

Early/Mid 90s Hand-Picked Electronic Music : 1993-1995 – Eurodance

masterboy.jpg

These were the heydays of Eurodance, it was all over the mainstream media and became the new craze amongst European teenagers. As a true Italo Disco descendant (and possibly its ultimate evolution), Eurodance inherits from all its main traits such as easy melodies and dancefloor-oriented and upbeat arrangements. But as the genre entered the 90s, House, Techno and Rap features were obviously also added into the formula.
Sometimes goofy, other times flamboyant; Eurodance was always self-aware of its void content and exclusively trained its sights on the dancefloor crowd. Apparence over meaning, hell yeah: this was all about Eurodance.

Here’s a small collection of such back-in-the-day tracks. It is worth noting that 90% of the Eurodance production is either Italian or German.
Don’t be ashamed and beat the tempo, this is meant to.
