Speed Cross

speed crossThunder – Speed Cross

Speed Cross (Italy, 1980) was a really hot single some years ago. Ladies with vintage a MV-Agusta are always hot. Speed Cross movie seems to be about dirt bikes. Fun for sure, but not my kind of fun.

The Swiss – Double Or Nothing (2011)

Deceptively cheap, which means it is great in my books. Could have been made some thirty years ago, or just now.

Lost In Love

lost in love pictureEvelyn Smith – Lost In Love

Evelyn Smith (Canada, 1982) singing about the most powerful, most dangerous and most addicting drug you can ever taste. Not my usual sound, but that classic bassline can still do wonders on the floor.

Winchester Canyon

doctor electroDoctor Electro – Winchester Canyon

The b-side of Doctor Electro is alone worth the effort of finding one, but of course there’s still the famous a-side (France, 1978). Rosalba Neri looks very very dangerous even with the rifle on the ground.

Sylvia Zwerus – Easy Livin’

An interior of a meditation capsule? Or the ultimate solution for easy living? Futuro is anything you want it to be designed by visionairy Matti Suuronen (Finland, 1968). The Soundtrack is pitched down for easier access (Netherlands, 1980).

“Souvenir From Musketry Club” OST

“Souvenir From Musketry Club” is soviet radio play based on James Hadley Chase‘s pulp fiction “The Guilty Are Afraid” (1957). The play was recorded in the end of 80’s and has curious soundtrack: a few original (I guess) dark and exciting electro-noir themes plus some old jazz and lounge tunes to bring the spirit of the age. Unfortunately all music performers are uncredited.
I cut all the music snippets (about 50 items) and mixed them in the 32-minutes mini-mix. Enjoy the old school soviet radio-theatre flirted with “hard-boiled” pulp material.

Cha Cha

Sigma Fay – Cha Cha (1979)

The ultimate peak-hour disco track, from Greece. To my knowledge, it’s the first tune to use a siren sound in a chorus.

You can find it in one of Albion’s Astronomix mixes. Also played by Chris Kontos for our past birthday party.

At The Saint

At The Saint

The legendary Saint opened in New York’s East Village in 1980, with a renovation cost of 4.5 million dollars that equals more than 11.5 million today. The djs included Jim Burgess and Roy Thode. In addition to the music, the place offered extreme non-simulated sex shows. Here’s a couple of big tunes from the club spinned under the huge planetarium dome in March 1987, including Jimmy Galvin’s If It Takes A Miracle and the number one track that month The Girl Who Seduced The World by Louie Louie. Check also Raquel Welch moaning on her This Girl’s Back In Town 12″ – could it be it was her doing the same on the L’Animal soundtrack, after all?
