Life Is Real Only Here

Life Is Real Only Here

Should you have a soft spot for pulse disco – and by your choice of reading & listening material we take our chances – the works of Wolfgang Bock and Andre Ceccarelli should prove to be interesting as both provide delicate yet authoritative soundscape designs. The opening track Cycles by Bock and the following Life Is Real Only Here by Ceccarelli are extremely sophisticated explorations of space, texture and structure, set to a gently throbbing and definitely danceable beat. I also added a couple of other relating cuts of equally peaceful/agitated palette and subject matter.

Stay For The Night

This 1981 compilation contains some pleasant surprises, that makes it stand out from most other Danish releases at the time. OK nice, and probably most well known, is the title song by Jannie Høeg and Czech/Danish producer Wolfgang Käfer. But the instrumentals on the record is where the action’s really at, especially on the two tracks below.

Twin Pigs

1983… it was a very good year. Even “Cocteau Twins” played mutated disco at that time.

Their third single “Peppermint Pig” (4AD, 1983) was produced by Alan Rankine, who just left the great new wave band “The Associates“.

Black Eyes

Patrick Attali – Black Eyes

Quite a reaction to this 1980 sleaze bomb – the b-side of a useless slowie – at the Dynamo club Saturday night and I’m not surprised. Would have been better still had the sleeve been projected on the wall. But why is the couple reading the Time magazine and not Charlie Hebdo or Oui – ?

The Caravan Of The Long Haired

Chorus & Disco Company – The Caravan Of The Long Haired

From the Polish people who explored Discoland, previously reported here. They probably stumbled into things which lie in the unconscious mind and images that didn’t seem to fit into anything rational.
