Special message to all who are Disco

bday2015_1

Ben Thomas – Sooleymon

Midnight Movers Unltd – Follow The Wind pt 1.

Face it. You’re no saint so indulge to the max in your vices at least once a year. In the evening of 16th of January A.D. 2015, give in to gluttony, lust and greed and celebrate with us all that is excessive, over-the-top and brilliant in the music we love, for hours and hours. Italo, funk, disco and beyond. Rare tracks and anthems. It’ll all be there to really wallow in, from exotic, sophisticated hothouse flowers to indescribable, sick sonic funghi from hell. From deep powerful vocals by mighty Divas to the flimsiest sighs from young girls who look like they’re sixteen but act like they’re twenty-one. No holds barred. Top tunes from a top lineup. The event will be re-broadcast on the 17th in case it’ll all become too much for you – though of course too much of a good thing is the best thing ever.

Death Syndicate

How’d you like it: joyful and brainless disco songs mixed with the short audio scenes as if taken from B movies.

For example, a scene of death while shaving:

Bloody Shaving

Disgustingly, isn’t it? Or the intro with an incident with the tommy-gun:

I’m from Syndicate

It was the most popular cassette compilation in early 80-s in Soviet Union. It came behind the Iron Curtain from somewhere out of East Asia with an unknown soviet sailor. Soon cassette crossed the country from the Far East to western borders and infected every cassette-player on the way.

On Our Way To?

Blancmange – On Our Way To? (1983)

This is a rather wicked tune that can be found along with the following A-side on a few selected pressings:

Blancmange – Blind Vision (1983)

Wake Up

Wake Up by Jef Aerosol

Polygamy Boys – Wake Up (2002)

This Bunker-ish tune, the Boys‘ first release on “The Sixth Reich Pax Amerikkkana” B-side, is really bangin’. The few lyrics are quite fun BTW for a protest song…

No One Had A Clue

No one had a clue

Rude 66 – No One Had A Clue (2008)

This is murderous!  The new album “Sadistic Tendencies” from the dutch Ruud (related posts) has been released.

The recipe is poisoned with a tense atmosphere, some wicked breaks and acid beats.

Unveiling The Secret

Psyche – Unveiling The Secret (1986)

This song appears on the socalled 2nd LP from the cult band Psyche (with Darrin C. Huss).

A tune like EBM with a mysterious atmosphere that makes me groove for sure.

Padded Cell

padded-cell.jpg

Padded Cell is a british duo who made an interesting crossover between the genres. Electro, house, disco, rock, jazz, nothing can stop them to do the music they like.

Padded Cell – Signal Failure (2005)

Padded Cell – Picadilly Line Strut (2005)

Well then make your own mind and watch out for the forthcoming album “Night Must Fall” in May 2008. I recommend “Moon Menace” to listen on their page. (more…)

City Of The Dead

wintercentralpark.JPG

Yet other home-made tracks, meant to be ghastly this time. Some kind of a Post Apocalyptic Z Day setting mixed with a John Carpenter-infused soundtrack. I hope you’ll enjoy it.

Defense Remixes

friedrich.JPG

Two home-made remixes of The Ghost That Walks‘ Defense. The first one is a kind of fierce and glitchy techno track where the main loop is tortured to death, while the second takes on a darker edge and is relatively electro regarding the form.
The mixing has been rushed and is really weak, you’d better reduce the bass levels and turn up the volume a tad if you wish to hear anything.

The Ghost That Walks – Defense (Kernighan + Ritchie Remix 1) (2008)

The Ghost That Walks – Defense (Kernighan + Ritchie Remix 2) (2008)

All the best to The Ghost with his new record label.

The Ghost That Walks

Dark. Gritty. Abrasive. Grim. Detroit electro on a gloomy night. The Ghost That Walks is all of this… and more. This bloke produces quality music (and he’s a nice guy BTW), highly inspired by both John Carpenter and the old-school electro masters from the D.

The Ghost That Walks – The Machine (2007)

The Ghost That Walks – 7 Deadly Sons (2007)

The Ghost That Walks – Urban Jungle (2007)

He is still unsigned and struggles to get a record deal, what a shame.
