Le Veau d’Or

Leonil McCormick – Le Veau D’Or

Ominous-sounding Ralph Benatar production from 1975. Don’t quite know what they’re saying but sounds like it has to do with anxiety, frustration and madness.

Do It To Me

Riz Ortolani – Do It To Me

La Settima Donna

The first sound clip is from Ruggero Deodato’s infamous La Casa Sperduta Nel Parco / The House At The Edge Of The Park from 1980. Sleazebags David Hess and Gianni Lombardo Radice invade a luxurious villa inhabited by decadent partygoers. They grab bottles of JB whisky and put on a record to dance to before starting to terrorize everyone with straight razors.

The 2nd clip is from Franco Prosperi’s equally nasty and equally entertaining La Settima Donna / The Last House On The Beach from 1978. Sleazebag Ray Lovelock and his two pals invade a luxurious villa. In this one a nun played by Florinda Bolkan is rehearsing a Shakespeare play with five nubile teenagers. The thugs force the girls to watch a nude disco dance scene from future cult film L’Occhio Dietro la Parete / The Eye Behind The Wall (1977) on television, and then start to terrorize everybody. The soundtrack is by Roberto Pregadio who also scored SS Lager 5: L’Inferno Delle Donne / SS Experiment Love Camp and Jess Franco’s Mondo Cannibale.

L.O.V.E. Got A Hold On Me

He might be white Barry White (sorry for bad pun), but has chosen German and Italian TV-shows instead of NY clubs.
Sorry for this foolish TV spot, but the song is worthy of it, even in short version (David Mancuso would not give me a lie).

And here’s another, big proto-disco stomper with video even worse than previous. (more…)

Hello Song!

2 fragments from 1979 TV benefit of soviet disco ensemble “Zdravstvuy Pesnya” (“Hello Song”).
Disco-funk number in schlager traditions “Love was nearby”:

Cover of Neil Sedaka’s “One way ticket” (a year later after Eruption’s take):

And some more: ensemble’s trumpet-player, Sergey Baulin (unfortunately, he is not on video) taught me to drum in late 80s.

Maria

There’s a reality show on tv focusing on four Hollywood wifes of Swedish origin. The undisputed star attraction is Maria Montezami, in the picture. Maria dresses like she was fourteen years old, looks at someone just past the camera and delivers sentences with heavily accented English like “Everyone cannot have a blue glass bowl filled with tuna salad, ja, but a blue glass bowl with salad can bring a family closer together”. She is always smiling and comes across as a genuinely well-meaning person from another, extremely weird dimension.

There has been no footage of any exclusive Hollywood parties from her villa yet but I bet that’s coming. Maria, check these tracks out for your soirée! I’m sure they’re right up your alley.

G.T Soundtrax – West Side Story / Maria

Joe Dolan – Midnight Lover

Voodoomen – Voodoodancing

Teddy Pendergrass – Choose Me
