There has been a few sandstorms on the blog in the past, but this is a pretty direct cover version of the La Bionda song, which i have always been a bit of a sucker for. Vocals here are certainly weaker, but overall an enjoyable little piece of orientalism.
You know how it goes…all parents adore their daughters and will do anything for them. Until the female offspring reaches a certain age. Then they start scouring the hardware stores for locks to put on their rooms and surveillance equipment to prevent those tall, dark and handsome strangers from moving too close. But no matter what mami and daddy do, those children always seem to find a way into the night. *Sigh*
Three more cuts from the 5T album, my personal fave of the month. Tangoul Dragustei is an improved version of Jinny and the Flamboyants “Cumparsita Dance” and check out the other two covers as well – familiar tunes spiked with strong acid.
The one I actually should have submitted. A heroic intro, a mysterious midnight rendez-vous at the Oasis, a camel race to Akaba under the stars, and more in Brazil and ancient Africa.
