Hit Machine

K.T.585 Band – Hit Machine

Anonymous Disco project by Kyohei Tsutsumi, one of the most important songwriters in Japan, plays Salsoul-like Disco. Scat by Singers Three makes this tune elegant and erotic.

Rétro-Mélo-Disco

Imagine – Rétro-Mélo-Disco

Rétro-Mélo-Disco is not retrospective. It sounds like a little bit futuristic disco.

Cinzano Disco Classics

Cinzano Disco Classics

The effects of images, rhythms and sun collided, spinning fragments of a story she couldn’t quite remember, or never really knew.

This euphoric protodisco tune is off the recording of the first ever Italian rock opera, performed at Teatro Sistina in Rome in 1970.

Les Robots

Higelin – Les Robots

The signal from the reciever was clearly audible now, filtering through the upper reaches of the stratosphere. Her voice, barely recognisable, the message cryptic, and in the background – the hollow laughter of a robot.

This is from 1978.

La Massagiste

Wilma Diaz – La Massagiste

Superior version of Painel De Controle’s Relax with French lyrics. Whispering vocalist Wilma Diaz sounds like she has found a relaxing massage therapist. My current working place has a complicated massage chair system to help the workers feel more relaxed and motivated. Sure it’s a great idea… but I’ve been too afraid to try it, because it looks as intimidating as vintage massage toys and is made of dead cows. I’m quite sure it can’t compare to human touch.

Les Planètes

Goldorak ost – Les Planètes

You have to check quite many Goldorak sevens to find the right one(s). This Canadian release has all the required elements to please dancers into psyched sounds. Seems to make sense when mixed with Massiera/Torelli cult item Hercule – Little Green Men.

Get your feet of the ground with the Disco Chopper. An ’82 release that sounds more like ’77.

Ich Tanze Mit Dir In Den Himmel Hinein

Neue Heimat – Ich tanze mit dir in den himmel hinein

Neue Heimat – Typen in trenchcoats

The Himmel tune was originally a hit for all kinds of acts like Lilian Harvey and Willy Fritsch. There was also a German film in 1952 of the same name which presumably presented the song during it’s grande finale. And here is the Himmel now, in magnificent early 80s mode! The b-side ain’t scheisse either oder was.

Judging by it’s sleeve my copy seems to have been spinned at Martinique discotheque in Vernau.

Wie Phönix Aus Der Asche

Karl Mzik ‎– Wie Phönix Aus Der Asche

Lot’s of talk about Austrian disco lately. Tiney posted a lot of obscure stuff here not so long ago, so let me add to the hype with this banger from 1982. If you’re still hungry for more Austrian stuff i can highly recommend Mike Burns mix that was made for the last Overfitting B day party.

The Retired Cosmonaut’s 30 Minute Nap by Johan Solo

The Retired Cosmonaut’s 30-minute nap

An expansive spatiodynamic mix by dj Johan Solo: “a succesion of space melodies triggered by the blurry memories of a retired cosmonaut on his bygone rocking chair. A short nap that draws back the curtains of the world of dreams to welcome us to oneirc landscapes inhabited by nightmares and illusions”

Los Maracaibos

Los Maracaibos – Magic Bimbo

A devotion to disco spirituality is one of the central purposes of life of each of us. My personal awakening took shape during 1974 at a very tender age after hearing Bimbo Jet’s seminal El Bimbo.

The success of the French track, written By Claude Morgan and produced by Lauren Rossi, immediately launched the production of countless cover versions worldwide and importantly, gave birth to inspired soundalikes such as Viva America by Banzaii featuring Les Glodettes and Ninas by Los Bomberos. Still, as a whole, the Bimbo Jet school of disco is a largely unheard body of work. This one by Los Maracaibos is a good example of the more obscure titles and is an absolutely essential collectors item.
