The End

First released as the B-side of the conventional but well produced Lover’s Holiday, this little gem is really different from anything Change has ever done.

This one has been written by the regular guitarist of the band, Paolo Gianolio, alone, which means that the notorious Malavasi or Romani touch is nowhere to be found in this track. It also appears to be one of his first songs ever as a writer and the end result is frankly awesome: the main melody, carried by a kind of over-processed choir-like sound and supported by lots of syncopated bleeps and electronic soundscapes, is simply gorgeous (but never over-the-top, mind you.)

Change – The End (1980)

P. Gianolio became a regular writer for the band after this song and was then involved in most of Change “electronic”-only tracks.

    This is the end
    Beautiful friend
    This is the end
    My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free
    But youll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die

    This is the end
