Sonny and the Babysitter

Another incarnation of Renato Ulvioni, under his Leroy Vohn moniker, this time in 1977 as Sonny and the Babysitter, a project featuring also colleague Leezy Lazz AKA Loreno Lazzarini.

One of those classical case of disco-era releases sporting a totally weird, funny and random / politically uncorrect cover.

Result would have fitted perfectly in an italian b-movie to me, as, yes! it’s a guy with a mullet and big ‘taches looking at you and you know what that look stands for……….

Leroy Vohn and his stars

super fiesta

Record it’s years you have, but you never had the chance to play.
So, before today you thought you had Leroy Vohn and Money, and Puppet, Gang and Orchestra. How could you therefore miss Leroy Vohn and his stars? One of the many incarnations-monikers of Renato Ulvioni (Ulvioni’s show and Babysitter), from 1979. A mystery why two versions: A side features Kiki Smith (not that Kiki Smith I guess) and is sung in english, flipside is sung in spanish by Sandy B. Once again, if anyone had any doubt, is a concentrate of most stylistic elements of disco: campish off-key singing is on the cheese side, but the track shows enough variety in its elements all through: female moans, drum solos and synths mainly, but (male) moanings and more can be heard in the full length on the radio.

Who is mysterious Sheila? Strong cinematic feel of this track intensifies these dark beautiful nights of August (Italy, 1977).

Beautiful Dreamer Mix

Beautiful Dreamer mix

In the picture: Colette Justine who sung Beautiful Dreamer originally during a performance art show in a window of a department store. This was in Vienna in 1979.

What did the dreamer see? There was Hot Volcano, Sahara doing I Just Wanna Dance, Event Horizon, bits and pieces, some Leroy Vohn plus Albinoni’s Adagio as arranged by Jean Musy.

I Met A Girl

Leroy Vohn & Money – I Met A Girl

Italy 1978. This is a taste of the 15 minute plus album version which is a sonic playpen filled with turquoise shag carpeting, lava lamps and a curvy aquatic pool.
